Project ENABLE Webinar
Project ENABLE prepares school librarians to create inclusive library programs and services in collaboration with special and general educators for meeting the information literacy skills of all learners. Since 2011, Project ENABLE has been training teams of librarians and teachers in the best practices for serving children with disabilities in their schools. The Center for Digital Literacy and the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University are pleased to offer a free, one-hour introduction to Project ENABLE, an interdisciplinary, professional development, training program for school librarians.
When: May 3, 2013, 4:00 – 5:00 PM (EST)
What: This one hour webinar will (1) introduce school librarians to Project ENABLE’s goals, curriculum, and ubiquitous free online resources; (2) increase school librarians’ understanding of their important role in providing meaningful educational opportunities for students with disabilities; (3) improve their awareness of facilitators and barriers to providing inclusive library programs and services; and (4) introduce them to how two 2011 Project ENABLE workshop participants have been using Project ENABLE practices in their school.

More About the Presenters
William N. Myhill, is a Faculty Associate with the Center for Digital Literacy, Director of Legal Research and Writing for the Burton Blatt Institute, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Syracuse University. He taught special education and English as a Second Language from 1989 to 2001. William earned a B.A. in Sociology and M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa.
Sara Lissa Paulson, since 2001, Sara has been the Library Media Specialist and Technology Coordinator at PS 347 The ASL & English Lower School, a NYC public school serving a combination of Children of Deaf adults (CODAs), Hard of hearing, Deaf, and hearing children in grades PK-8. Previously Sara was the Library Media Specialist and an English teacher at R. F. Wagner Secondary School for the Arts & Technology in Long Island City, Queens. She received her M.S. in LIS from the Pratt Institute in 1998.
Michelle Mayhood. Currently Michelle is teaching Kindergarten in an ICT setting at PS 347, The American Sign Language and English Lower School in Manhattan. She is in her 6th year of teaching, alternating between Kindergarten and First grade. Michelle received a B.A. in psychology from LeMoyne College and Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from Fordham University. Michelle also is a graduate of the Ennis Cosby Hello Friend Foundation, which focuses on young children with reading difficulties. She holds teaching certificates for grades 1-6 in both Childhood Education and Childhood Education with Disabilitie.
