Peter Blanck to discuss policies for web accessibility for people with intellectual disabilities at National Disability Authority’s Centre for Excellence in Universal Design – Galway
The National Disability Authority’s Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, with NUI Galway’s Centre for Disability Law and Policy, invite you to a round-table discussion of policies for website accessibility for people with intellectual disabilities, with Peter Blanck, Ph.D., J.D. in the National Disability Authority’s offices at 25 Clyde Road, Dublin 4 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Friday, 12th July. We are inviting senior people from prominent intellectual disability organisations and senior people from some Irish web development companies.
Professor Peter Blanck will present the central thesis—and relevant findings—from his latest book, “Towards a Right under the ADA to Web Access for People with Cognitive Disabilities” commissioned by the Coleman Institute on Cognitive Disabilities at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Blanck is University Professor at Syracuse University, which is the highest faculty rank granted to only eight prior individuals in the history of the University. He is Chairman of the Burton Blatt Institute (BBI) at Syracuse University. Blanck holds appointments at the Syracuse University Colleges of Law, and Arts and Sciences, David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, School of Education, and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Prior to his appointment at Syracuse, Blanck was Kierscht Professor of Law and director of the Law, Health Policy, and Disability Center at the University of Iowa. Blanck is Honorary Professor, Centre for Disability Law & Policy, at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Blanck received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rochester, a Juris Doctorate from Stanford University—where he was President of the Stanford Law Review—and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard University.
Professor Gerard Quinn, a leading authority on international and comparative disability law and policy, will open the discussion.
