Assistant Project Director
ngalstya@syr.eduDr. Nare Galstyan serves as Assistant Director of the evaluation of the Psychiatric Advanced Directives (PADs) Innovation Project. In this role, she leads BBI’s evaluation of new web-based technology supporting access and use of PADs by people with mental health challenges across eight California counties.
Nare specializes in applied research spanning international development and humanitarianism, with expertise in program design, qualitative and quantitative methodology, monitoring and evaluation, and managing large research teams. Prior to joining BBI, she worked as a researcher, policy analyst, and monitoring and evaluation specialist with several international and governmental organizations, including Ernst and Young, Save the Children International, USAID, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, and the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia. During her doctoral program, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam, the Center for International Migration Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Institute of Armenian Studies at the University of Southern California.
Nare received a Ph.D. in Sociology and Methodology of Social Research from the University of Milan and University of Turin.
