Description:
In this talk, three civil society members of Disabled People’s Organizations (DPO) will discuss the role of these organizations in their country contexts. The panelists will offer their perspectives on both domestic and international disability frames and policies, in addition to the obstacles of representation and inclusion within mainstream platforms of civil society.
Speakers:
Nataliya Kolesova
Nataliya Kolesova is the director of the Association of the Disabled in Ukraine and a member of the Ukraine National Paralympic Wheelchair Dance Team. She is also pursuing a M.S. degree on Teaching and Curriculum in the School of Education.
Jason P. Harris
Jason P. Harris is the founder of the non-profit organization Jason’s Connection, which promotes inclusion and equality for individuals with disabilities, mental health and diverse abilities and needs. He serves as a Reseach associate at the Burton Blatt Institute (BBI).
Xuehong Wang
Xuehong Wang has worked with many DPOs in China, the U.S., Ireland, Germany and Malaysia. From 2015-2018, Xuehong worked for the Handicap International Federation Beijing Office. She is studying international human rights law and disability in the College of Law.
