BBI Receives $6.2 Million Award from U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for Southeast ADA Center

The Burton Blatt Institute (BBI) has been awarded a five year, $6.23 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Administration on Community Living (ACL), National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) for the Southeast Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Center.

Blanck to speak at 16th Annual Coleman Institute Conference on Envisioning the Future of Technology

BBI Chairman and University Professor, Dr. Peter Blanck, will be a speaker at the 16th Annual Coleman Institute Conference in Broomfield, Colorado on October 6. The conference is designed to provide information about recent advances in the field of cognitive disabilities and technology, and to stimulate conversations about future developments.  Attendees of the event include leaders from academia, state and federal agencies, self-advocates and family members, service providers, and software developers and engineers. Leading Disability Advocate Bruce Sexton joins Burton Blatt Institute as summer fellow under the guidance of Chairman Peter Blanck

Bruce Sexton, a Juris Doctor Candidate at Syracuse University College of Law, will be mentoring with BBI Chairman Peter Blanck in his legal studies and working on an array of research projects at the Burton Blatt Institute. The areas of research will range from independent living, to social security disability insurance, to issues relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act. Bruce says, “I am honored to be working with such an amazing group of disability advocates.”
