Olivia Gawehnidi Porter is pursuing a B.A. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in Policy Studies with a minor in Native American and Indigenous Studies. Olivia is a Turtle Clan citizen of the Seneca Nation of Indians from the Allegany Territory. Olivia has served as a Congressional intern for Rep. Brian Higgins in Washington, D.C., where she monitored Congressional hearings and legislation, engaged in Indigenous policy issues, and participated in a Native intern program. Olivia is passionate about mental health awareness within Indigenous nations and the improvement of mental and disability care and policies for American Indians. Olivia’s interests include advocacy for Indigenous rights and lands, environmental activism and economic justice, intersectional feminism, photography, hiking and yoga.
