Description:
The Money Smart Financial Education Program is a copyright-free curriculum designed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Train-the-Trainer is designed to train interested parties in teaching financial education to their constituencies. The Money Smart curriculum includes an extensive section on “Accommodating Students with Disabilities.”
Cost: Free.

Seating limited to the first 30 people!

Attendees:
Disability advocates who work as benefits and employment / vocational specialists, adult services consultants, career resource coordinators, program directors, financial educator coordinators, and psychiatric center representatives at local disability advocacy organizations.
Schedule:
Complimentary breakfast and lunch is served. The training begins promptly at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m.
Training:
The trainers travel from FDIC’s New York Regional Office on Exchange Place in NYC at no cost. FDIC’s sole criteria is that a minimum of 15 people register. The agenda encompasses a mixture of group discussions, class exercises, role-playing, introductions, ice-breakers.
Outcomes:
Attendees are awarded a Certificate of Completion by the FDIC representatives afterwards. Participants become certified to teach FDIC’s curriculum, and are now in a position to go out and teach financial education/literacy and asset-building principles to help their constituencies achieve economic sustenance and self-sufficiency.
