Noted Disability Studies Scholar Jay Dolmage to Speak on Disability and Inclusion on College Campuses - Burton Blatt Institute

Jay Dolmage, associate professor of English language and literature at The University of Waterloo and author of the groundbreaking book “Academic Ableism: Disability and Higher Education” (Michigan University Press, 2017), will visit Syracuse University from Dec. 4-5.

He will meet with student and faculty/staff groups to discuss disability and inclusion on college campuses and give a public talk and participate in a book signing in Watson Theater on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

His visit is co-sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor and the Interdisciplinary Programs and Outreach initiative in the Burton Blatt Institute and the Disability Cultural Center.

Dolmage is founding editor of the Canadian Journal of Disability Studies. He is also author of the critically acclaimed books “Disability Rhetoric” (Syracuse University Press, 2014) and “Disabled Upon Arrival: Eugenics, Immigration, and the Construction of Race and Disability” (The Ohio State University Press, 2018).
