Southeast ADA Center and BBI welcomes James Cartwright as 2018-2019 Student Intern from Morehouse College
The Southeast ADA Center, a project of the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, welcomes James Cartwright, our 2018-2019 student intern from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Cartwright, who prefers to go by simply “Cartwright”, is a senior History major from Memphis, TN. After graduation, he plans to attend law school. Cartwright completed a term abroad, studying under the late Dr. John Campbell at the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago. Cartwright has been a featured presenter at the International Conference on Caribbean Literature. He has also worked as an intern at the Senegalese Embassy in Washington, D.C. At Southeast ADA Center, Cartwright will be involved in research on financial Inclusion and accessibility for people who have disabilities. The Southeast ADA Center’s internship program encourages students to have a deeper understanding of civil rights, disability rights, and social justice.

The Southeast ADA Center is a project of the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University and is a member of the ADA National Network, a network of ten regional ADA centers funded by a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). The Center serves an eight-state geographic region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) and has a network of partners and affiliates in each state that includes Centers for Independent Living (CILs), individuals with and without disabilities, small and large employers and businesses, nonprofit organizations, universities, and state and local government agencies.
