BBI Chairman Peter Blanck's book, 'eQuality,' highlighted in July/August 2017 United Nations Magazine

July 11, 2017

The July/August 2017 issue of the United Nations Special magazine has described Professor Blanck’s book “eQuality” as articulating a standard to make the web an accessible and inclusive place. The book, “eQuality: The Struggle for Web Accessibility by Persons with Cognitive Disabilities” (Cambridge University press, 2014, 2016 paperback) explores how to make web content accessible to all.

Ms. Angela Montaño García, UNITAR, says Professor Blanck’s “eQuality” is a “key concept to ensure that: first, equality and justice under the law are assured for web users with disabilities; and second, that the web meets adequate standards of accessibility and quality.” She says that “to achieve eQuality, we must focus not only on strengthening laws and policies, but also on favoring the greater inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in the conception of a web that is adaptable and accessible to all.”
