Me’Shae Brooks-Rolling,
M.P.A., C.S.E.P.
Director of Special Events
& Public Relations

Me’Shae Brooks-Rolling, is Director of Special Events and Public Relations with the Burton Blatt Institute, and is a dual appointee as Senior Administrator with the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. She is a cross-disciplinary practitioner of special events management and financial literacy.

Me’Shae was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana. She double-majored in Political Science and Marketing at Anderson University, and was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow, earning her Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Me’Shae was recruited as an Auditor for the Government Accountability Office. Following the closure of GAO’s New York Regional Office years later, she made a career transition into Special Events Management. She obtained her Certificate in Meeting and Conference Management at the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration at New York University.

Me’Shae has assisted with the coordination of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as with events at Fortune magazine and at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street. As Senior Event Coordinator with the New York City Office of the Mayor during the Giuliani Administration, Me’Shae helped plan Yankee Ticker Tape parades, award ceremonies, receptions, press conferences and dinner galas.

Me’Shae has earned the designation of CSEP (Certified Special Events Professional), the highest designation afforded in the special events industry as conferred by the International Special Events Society.

As a professional living and working in New York City, Me’Shae became both appalled and concerned at the lack of sound, basic financial literacy in society. She subsequently authored a book, “How to Save Money & Organize Your Finances: Tales of an Urban Consumer”.

Prior to her appointment at Syracuse University, Me’Shae resided in State College, PA, and taught three professional development courses to Faculty and Staff at The Pennsylvania State University: Coordinating Special Events Like a Pro, Financial Literacy 101, and How To Market and Promote Your Self-Published Book; and taught fundamental money management principles to a wide range of community groups. She has also been invited to appear on radio and television interviews addressing the subject of financial literacy.

Brooks-Rolling is a Financial Literacy Instructor with Start-Up NY, which is a project that brings together partners from business, human service & economic development organizations to provide business planning training and supportive services that enable entrepreneurs with diverse disabilities to establish, grow and sustain their businesses. Start-Up NY is a collaborative project of Onondaga County, the Syracuse University Burton Blatt Institute and Whitman School Falcone Center for Emerging Enterprises, & ARISE and is funded by a cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) & the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).
