Tal Araten-Bergman, Ph.D.,
Post Doctoral Fellow

Tal Araten-Bergman, Ph.D., is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Burton Blatt Institute. Prior to joining the BBI, Bergman has worked as a researcher in the Richard Crossman Chair for Social Welfare & Planning at the University of Haifa, focusing on social policy, human rights and social participation of people with disabilities. Bergman has also received grants to study disability policy and it’s implication on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the Israeli society. Her personal research interests include implementation of disability law & policy, social and civic participation of people with disability and assisted technology. In addition to her research, as a social worker, Bergman has worked in community based services for people with mental disabilities. As a member of the Israeli mental health association, she has helped develop, implement and evaluate programs for people suffering from mental illness.

Bergman received her M.A. in Social Work from the University of Haifa in 2003 (cum laude), and her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Haifa in 2007.
