Project ENABLE launches training website for school librarians nationwide to better serve students with disabilities

Project ENABLE (Expanding Nondiscriminatory Access by Librarians Everywhere) has launched a training website, made possible by a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services. Librarians and other educators can freely access the self-paced learning modules to improve the library and information services to students with disabilities in their schools and districts. Project ENABLE is a collaborative endeavor of the Center for Digital Literacy at the School of Information Studies and BBI.

 
 

BBI hiring full-time law clerks

BBI is seeking law graduates with demonstrated advanced analytical and writing skills for one or two law clerk positions in BBI’s Syracuse Office. The work entails analyzing client files and preparing briefs to assist their appeal of denied disability benefits. Law clerks will also be responsible for reviewing and editing briefs prepared by research assistants, and supervising and training RAs.

 
 

Study finds shortcomings in healthcare for autistic adults

Katherine McDonald, Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics associate professor and BBI faculty fellow, and other researchers with the Academic Autistic Spectrum Partnership in Research and Education (AASPIRE) have found that autistic adults report significantly worse health care experiences than their non-autistic peers. The article is published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

 
 

BBI receives MarCom Awards for 2012 magazine, new website

The 2012 issue of Snapshots of Impact, the annual magazine of BBI, received a Platinum Award in the MarCom Awards competition. The Platinum Award recognizes the magazine as one of the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum Winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness. About 18 percent of entries won this award.

 
 

Veterans Business Fund created with support of BBI

The Veterans Business Fund (VBF), a not-for-profit organization created to provide financial assistance to veterans, announced its formation, and the issuing of the Fund’s first low-interest loan to a veteran. VBF was created with the support of BBI, the International Franchise Association’s VetFran program, SunTrust, Business Lenders and others.
