BBI Chairman to moderate expert discussion at symposium on psychotropic medication and the law
Peter Blanck, University Professor and chairman of the Burton Blatt Institute (BBI) at Syracuse University, will moderate an expert discussion March 22 at a symposium hosted by the University of Southern California’s Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy, and Ethics.
The symposium, “Psychotropic Medication and the Law,” will feature Blanck and other nationally respected authorities on mental health. The Saks Institute annual symposium draws an audience of academics, lawyers, and mental health professionals from around the country.
Blanck is a board member of the Saks Institute, founded at USC Gould School of Law by Elyn R. Saks. Saks is a recipient of the MacArthur Fellows Program Genius grant. She is also the author of the seminal 2007 book The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness, which disclosed for the first time her own experience with schizophrenia and its treatment.
